About This Tool
Open iPhone photos anywhere — without uploading them
iPhones save photos as HEIC by default, and the moment that photo reaches a Windows PC, an Android phone, or an upload form, it stops working. This converter decodes the HEIC directly in your browser and gives you a standard JPG that opens everywhere.
Most HEIC converters upload your photos to their servers first. Personal photos deserve better: here the decoding runs on your own device, so nothing is ever uploaded. Afterwards you can compress the JPG for email or resize it for social media.
Never Uploaded
Photos are decoded on your device. No server ever sees them.

Why This Happens
Why Your iPhone Photo Won't Open
Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos in HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) — roughly half the file size of JPG at the same quality. Great for your phone's storage, terrible for compatibility.
HEIC on Windows
Windows Photos needs the HEVC Video Extensions codec — sold separately in the Microsoft Store. Converting to JPG skips the purchase entirely.
HEIC on Android
Support varies by manufacturer and app. A JPG works on every Android device, every messenger, every gallery app.
Upload Forms & CMSs
Job portals, government forms, listing sites, and older CMSs routinely reject HEIC. JPG is accepted everywhere.
Email Recipients
Attach a HEIC and half your recipients see a blank box. Convert before sending and everyone sees the photo.
Print Shops
Photo kiosks and print services expect JPG. Convert at full quality before ordering prints.
Editing Software
Older versions of Photoshop, GIMP setups without plugins, and many web editors can't open HEIC files.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Drop your .heic file into the converter above, let your browser decode it, and download the JPG. Free, no signup, no watermark, no limits.
No. The HEIC decoder runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly — your photos never leave your device.
HEIC is Apple's default format since iOS 11. Windows needs a paid codec extension and Android support is inconsistent. JPG opens everywhere.
Yes — use the Batch Convert tab and download all converted JPGs as one ZIP file.
Conversion runs at 92% JPEG quality — visually identical for sharing and printing. HDR photos are tone-mapped to standard JPG, so extreme highlights may shift very slightly.
Yes. JPG is the default, but the same converter can output PNG (lossless) or WebP (smallest for web use).
Yes — both .heic and .heif extensions are accepted.
The still photo converts to JPG. The motion part of a Live Photo is a separate video stream and isn't included — which is what you want when sharing a normal picture.
