About

The Box Cricket Scorer Built for India

Box cricket is played in parks, societies, and rooftops across India โ€” but scoring is still done on scraps of paper or WhatsApp notes. This scorer changes that. Enter team names, pick overs, and start scoring ball by ball. Everyone in the group gets a live view link.

At the end of the match, a single tap generates a full scorecard image ready to share on WhatsApp โ€” with batting and bowling figures for both innings, and a QR code your friends can scan to score their own match.

Use Cases

Who Uses This Scorer & Why

Society Box Cricket Tournaments

Running a Friday evening tournament in your housing society? Create a new match for each game, share the view link in the group, and everyone follows from the sidelines. No paper scoresheets, no arguments about the count.

Office & College Matches

Office cricket events and college gully cricket matches are often disorganised. The scorer tracks every run and wicket in real time, so the team waiting to bat can watch from the dressing room without crowding around the scorer.

Friday Cricket Groups

Regular weekend cricket groups can pass scoring duties between players using the 4-digit PIN handover โ€” no one is stuck on the boundary with the phone for the whole match.

End-of-Match WhatsApp Share

The scorecard image is the most-shared part. After a tense 6-over match, a properly formatted card with both innings totals, top scorers, and bowling figures gets more engagement than a screenshot of a spreadsheet.

How It Works

Score a Match in 3 Steps

  1. 1

    Create the match

Enter both team names, choose who bats first, and set the number of overs (1โ€“20). Tap Start Match. You get a shareable link โ€” send it to your WhatsApp group immediately.

  2. 2

    Score ball by ball

Enter batter names and the bowler's name. Tap the run buttons (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6), extras (WD, NB), or the Wicket button for dismissals. Strike rotates automatically. Over stats and bowler figures update with every ball.

  3. 3

    Share the scorecard

When the second innings is complete, tap Share Scorecard. A full image is generated with batting and bowling stats for both teams. Use the system share sheet to send it directly to WhatsApp.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a box cricket scoring app?

A box cricket scoring app lets you record runs, wickets, extras, and overs digitally instead of on paper. This scorer goes further โ€” it generates a shareable link so all players can watch the live score on their phones, and produces a WhatsApp-ready scorecard image at the end of the match.

Do I need to install an app or create an account?

No. The scorer runs entirely in your browser. Open the link, enter team names and overs, start scoring. No app download, no signup, no login required.

How do I share the live score with other players?

After creating a match, tap the Share button at the top of the page to copy your match URL. Send it via WhatsApp. Anyone who opens the link sees the live score, updated every 5 seconds โ€” no login needed on their end.

What is 'Pass the Phone' (Hand Over Scoring)?

The person who created the match can tap 'Hand Over' to generate a 4-digit PIN valid for 2 minutes. The new scorer opens the shared link, taps 'Take Over', and enters the PIN. Edit access transfers to them โ€” the previous scorer becomes view-only automatically.

How long does match data stay online?

Match data is automatically deleted 24 hours after the match is created. The shared link will return a 'not found' page after that. This keeps the scorer completely privacy-friendly โ€” no match records are stored long-term.

How do I share the scorecard on WhatsApp?

When the match is complete, a 'Share Scorecard' button appears. Tap it to generate a full scorecard image (batting and bowling details for both innings). On Android and iOS, the system share sheet opens directly โ€” choose WhatsApp to send the image to your group.

Does it work for different over formats?

Yes. When creating a match you can set any number of overs from 1 to 20. Common box cricket formats โ€” 6 overs, 8 overs, 10 overs โ€” all work. The scorer tracks the run rate and target automatically.

Can I record extras like wides and no-balls?

Yes. Tap WD for a wide (+1 extra, not a legal ball). Tap NB for a no-ball โ€” a run selector appears so you can also record any runs scored off the no-ball. Both are tracked separately in the bowling figures and extras row.
