About Our eSign PDF Tool

Electronic signatures have become an essential part of modern document workflows. Whether you're signing a contract, approving an invoice, authorising a form, or countersigning an agreement, our free eSign PDF tool lets you add a handwritten-style signature to any PDF in seconds — without installing software or creating an account.

The process is simple and entirely private. Your PDF is only sent to our server briefly to embed the signature image; it is never stored, indexed, or shared. The signature you draw stays on your device until you choose to apply it, and the final signed PDF is returned directly to you for download.

Our tool supports all PDF types — text-based, scanned, and image-based — because the signature is added as a transparent image overlay on top of the page content. Original formatting, text, and images in the PDF are completely preserved.

How to Sign a PDF Online

  1. Upload Your PDF: Drag and drop your PDF into the upload area, or click to browse. Files up to 20MB are supported.
  2. Draw Your Signature: Use your mouse, trackpad, or touchscreen to draw your signature in the signature pad on the right. Click Clear to start over if needed, then click “Use Signature”.
  3. Position the Signature: Drag your signature to the exact location on the PDF where it should appear. Use the page navigation if your PDF has multiple pages.
  4. Download the Signed PDF: Click “Download Signed PDF”. Your signed document is ready instantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this eSign PDF tool completely free?

Yes, entirely free. There is no account, subscription, or hidden cost. Upload your PDF, draw your signature, position it, and download the signed PDF instantly — all at no charge.

Are electronic signatures legally valid?

In many countries, including the United States (under the ESIGN Act and UETA) and the European Union (under eIDAS), electronic signatures are legally recognised for most documents. However, certain documents such as wills, court orders, and real-estate deeds may still require wet ink or notarised signatures. We recommend consulting a legal professional if you are unsure about the legal requirements for your specific document.

Is my PDF uploaded to your servers?

Your PDF is temporarily sent to our secure server solely to embed the signature image. The file is never stored, logged, or retained after the signed PDF is returned and downloaded. Signed PDFs are generated on-demand and discarded immediately.

Can I sign a multi-page PDF?

Yes. After uploading your PDF you can navigate between pages and choose which page to place your signature on. Signatures are added to the selected page only. If you need to sign multiple pages, you can repeat the process.

Does the tool work with scanned or image-based PDFs?

Yes. Because the signature is a drawn image that is simply overlaid on the PDF page, this tool works with all types of PDFs — including scanned documents and image-based PDFs — regardless of whether they contain selectable text.

What is the maximum file size supported?

You can sign PDFs up to 20MB in size. If your PDF is larger, use our free Compress PDF tool to reduce the file size before signing.
